Kapiri Mposhi Glass Industry

The high-quality silica sand deposits near Kapiri Mposhi, essential for glass manufacturing, prompted the government to establish Kapiri Mposhi Glass Products Ltd.

This strategic decision aimed to utilize local resources for industrial development, marking a significant step in Zambia's manufacturing sector.

The factory was officially opened on May 28, 1974, by Dr. Kenneth Kaunda, then President of Zambia. This event represented a milestone in the country's efforts to diversify its economy and reduce dependence on imported glass products.

The establishment of this factory not only created job opportunities but also contributed to the growth of ancillary industries in the region.
